Handrail Grip Tape
The Handrail Grip Tape is an asymmetric-patterned, non-abrasive anti-slip and grip-enhancing material designed to be applied to handrails to increase grip.
Handrail Grip Tape Development
To produce a suitable handrail grip tape. Heskins needed a solution that was not only grip-enhancing but was comfortable to the user. meaning that at the time, new anti-slip material required. Plastic is a material that can be manipulated into either a hard or soft finish. We chose the latter to ensure a rubber-like finish. Added a dimpled effect to increase grip and give it an attractive finish. Certain plastics can be modified to have a rubber feel yet retain better consistency. This provides easier maintenance also, as it is easier to clean than a lot of conventional rubbers.
3418 handrail tapes construction consists of PVC with an embossed, asymmetrical pattern on the surface. A base-layer of PET (polyethene terephthalate) added underneath for better insulation during the colder months. Finished with an adhesive coating on the underside. Provides a strong bond after application to ensure great durability.
Handrail Grip Tape Application Variation
For application, ensure the surface you are applying to is clean, dry and free from any grit or residue. There are various ways in which you can apply handrail grip tape. Here are a few suggestions below.
This will use a strip of handrail grip tape, applied lengthways along a railing and then wrapped around to join neatly around the railing. This application method is particularly suitable for long railings that have little to no support bars joining them through the middle.
Tight Spiral Application
This application requires no pre-cutting a length of material, and although a little more complex, it ensures great coverage. Allows more complex railings covered without stopping and cutting pieces. When done correctly it can be an effective time saver.
Spaced Spiral Application
Spaced spiral application is a more cost-effective application, as you can still achieve an efficient, grip-enhanced surface while making the material go further. Recommended for internal areas, as some of the bare railings will still be visible.
Handrail grip tape is available in rolls.
