IP44 Motors

IP44 refers to the Ingress Protection (IP) rating of an electric motor. The IP rating system classifies and rates the degree of protection provided by electrical enclosures against the intrusion of solid objects and liquids. In the context of IP44 motors: First Digit (4): Indicates the level of protection against solid objects. A rating of 4 means the motor is protected against solid objects larger than 1.0 mm, such as wires, tools, and small particles. Second Digit (4): Indicates the level of protection against liquids. A rating of 4 means the motor is protected against splashing water from any direction. It suggests that the motor is suitable for use in environments where it may encounter water splashes but is not fully waterproof. In summary, an IP44 motor is moderately protected against the ingress of solid objects and provides a reasonable level of protection against water splashes. These motors are commonly used in applications where exposure to moisture or occasional splashes is expected, but they are not designed for submersion or heavy exposure to water.
