The 1/2 in. x 3 in. Galvanized GR2 Carriage Bolt diameter is measured on the outside of the threads. Used with wood, metal, or concrete to build strong structures such as wooden decks. Used to fasten metal to wood. The bolts have a shallow mushroom head and have a self-locking action when placed through a square hole in a metal strap or a round hole in most wood. Installed with only a single tool, a spanner or wrench, working from one side. 13 thread count. Coarse (standard) threads.

Important Note: Due to the plating thickness, only hot-dipped galvanized nuts should be used on hot-dipped galvanized carriage bolts.
